OCTOBER 2006
Hi
All,
We
hope you all had an enjoyable summer. The weather certainly behaved itself
giving us enough sun to replenish our vitamin D and enough rain to keep the
grass growing. It was also ideal for BBQ's and we hope you enjoyed your organic
steaks and burgers alfresco. We weren't terribly impressed with the burgers in
the BBQ boxes this year and have decided (unless there is a huge demand) not to
do BBQ boxes next year. Instead we will produce some extra mince, available on
request, so that people can make their own. There are lots of recipes for
homemade burgers that are quick and delicious, we will put some on our website
– feel free to send us your favourites.
Another
change we plan to make in order to keep costs down for everyone, is to kill and
process two animals at a time (sorry about using the K word I don't like the
thought of it myself). We will then produce boxes slightly less often and freeze
down any surplus here on the farm for people to have in between times.
Well,
it's that time of year again (at least the shops in Exeter would have you
believe it is anyway) - yes Christmas is coming! We are planning our next box to
be ready at the end of November, just in time for all that pre-Christmas and New
Year entertaining. If anyone would like a large joint
for a Christmas get together please let us know
in good time and I'm sure we'll be able to accommodate you. We
unfortunately have to start charging £5 for deliveries outside of the Crediton
area, but you are more than welcome to pick your boxes up from the farm (cup of
coffee and lively conversation free). We will let you know the exact date the
boxes will be ready nearer the time. Please send, phone or email orders as
usual.
We
look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Simon and Karen Paddon
